No Vote
So I get home from work, have a short argument with my sister over the air conditioner, put some ice cream in the freezer, and turn my computer on and go to the MSN homepage (wait - is that one word or two??) where this is one of their big stories:
and then it takes me like three times reading it for it to click, for me to connect the story about Jehovah’s Witnesses with the fact that I am a Jehovah’s Witness. (I’m like that sometimes. Once I read a book where one of the main characters had the same last name as me and the whole time I was thinking, Wow that’s a really familiar name; where have I heard that before? DUH.)
Anyway. The point is that I was pretty surprised to see this as one of the main stories on the MSN page. It made me happy. And was kind of coincidental because just a couple weeks ago I was talking to one of my friends ABOUT THIS VERY THING (i.e. why I’m old enough to vote but don’t). (And yes, I’m aware I used i.e. incorrectly.)
So that was cool.
Also? I officially hate coming up with titles for my posts.

hmmmn…I’ve never noticed that people who are Jehovah’s Witness don’t vote. My aunt’s family is a Jehovah’s Witness (basically they’re the only ones who have a different religion in our family). There are a lot of things that we do that they don’t…
anyway..next time i see my cousin i’ll ask her. they don’t eat blood also (Filipinos eat ‘em, cooked of course)…

webster - Yeah and we don’t have blood transfusions either; we consider it the same principle as eating blood. This was a big deal for me back when I had all my surgeries, ones that would normally be done with blood. That’s so cool that your family is Witnesses. It makes me smile to hear of Witnesses in other lands.

I saw that article too and then I made the mistake of reading some of the comments on the article… geez, depressing, yet I shouldn’t have been surprised. After all, “narrow is the gate & cramped the road to life…” which means that 99% of the population are either against us or hate us or just don’t care. *sigh* It’s not easy to be hated, but I understand it, of course.

Chiada - There were a few good comments, but I didn’t read them for long because it just isn’t worth it since so many were depressing.

Well..just my aunt’s family and the rest are Catholics. Anyway, we understand each other and respect them.
I think I know an incident regarding this. I once saw on tv a siamese twin. their parents were Witnesses and so they reached the right age when they can be separated…the parents are concerned with losing blood and blood transfusions which is absolutely necessary in the operation…what happens next…idk. idk if those two were ever separated.

webster - Oh that’s sooo sad of a story. Poor them.
I’ve never heard of a bloodless seperation surgery, but I know bloodless open heart is a reality (as well as back surgery) because I had both of them and I was lucky enough to find a couple of really great doctors who worked with me and my family (I was 11, 12 at the time) and everything went good. I’m lucky.
